The i’s aren’t dotted and the t’s aren’t crossed yet, but things are looking good for the funding of our Whisker Warriors spay/neuter program in Rancho Cordova next fiscal year. This past week, the City Council approved our $46,000 request for the program to run from July 2020 to June 2021. The budget still has to be ratified but we are more than just cautiously optimistic. We really appreciate the support of the Rancho Cordova City Council and its concern for the well-being of animals and their caregivers in our community. If you would like to thank them for their support to help reduce pet overpopulation in Rancho Cordova, you can go to: https://www.cityofranchocordova.org/government/city-council
In the meantime, our efforts to reduce the community cat population has continued even in this challenging Covid-19 time when many low-cost spay/neuter programs are closed. Thanks to the financial support of the public, Whisker Warriors feral cat trapping team has been bringing cats to a provider in the foothills, one of the few spay/neuter facilities open in the area.
But things are looking up for local sterilization efforts. The Community Spay Neuter Clinic on Bradshaw just announced they are back and ready to schedule surgeries for June, starting Tuesday May 26th. Here’s what they posted on Facebook:
We are back and ready to schedule surgery for June! Starting Tuesday, the 26th we will be answering our phones from 10am to 2pm for scheduling of cats and dogs. Please do NOT call and leave us messages as we will not be able to return them. Due to the pandemic we have had to put some safety protocols into action and we are still perfecting our drop off and pick up procedures. Please have patience and know that everyone's safety and well-being is our priority. We are excited to get back to what we do best and can't wait to see you all!
Well Community Spay Neuter Clinic, Whisker Warriors is excited you are back, too!
